Turn off notifications for one app
You can still open the app and read content available inside it. Turning off its notifications does not uninstall it or stop you opening it.
- Open Settings and choose Notifications.
- Find and tap the app under Notification Style.
- Turn off Allow Notifications. Repeat only for the other apps you want to silence.

Notifications off, Focus or Scheduled Summary?
For a recurring quiet window, open Settings > Focus and choose a Focus. Under Apps, choose Silence Notifications From and add the apps. Then use Add Schedule to set the hours and days. Review people, calls and time-sensitive exceptions separately. The full scheduling guide below walks through those choices.
| No alerts from one app | Turn off Allow Notifications for that app. |
|---|---|
| Keep alerts to check later | Leave notifications on and choose Notification Center under Alerts. Turn off Sounds separately if you also want silence. |
| A quiet work or bedtime window | Use a Focus and review which people and apps it allows. A Focus silences interruptions; it does not block opening the app. |
| Read non-urgent updates in batches | Use Scheduled Summary for selected apps at chosen times. Review time-sensitive exceptions before relying on a quiet period. |
Silence selected iPhone apps on a schedule

Or keep them, but quieter
- Turn off Badges so the red count stops pulling you back.
- Under Alerts, choose where notifications appear: Lock Screen, Notification Center or banners. Notification Center only means they wait until you look.
- Some apps let you choose which kinds of notification to get. Look for Customize Notifications, or the app's own notification settings link at the bottom of the screen.
- Under Notification Delivery, choose Scheduled Summary for apps you want to read in a batch.
Bundle the rest into a summary
Scheduled Summary collects notifications from the apps you choose and delivers them at set times. Open Settings, tap Notifications, then Scheduled Summary. Turn it on, choose the times, then pick the apps to include. It suits news, shopping and social apps that you want to check, just not on their schedule.
Which apps to turn off first
- Social apps: likes, comments and suggested posts are invitations, not messages.
- Shopping and deal apps, which mostly notify you to buy something.
- Games that remind you about rewards, energy or streaks.
- News alerts, unless your work depends on them. Try a summary instead.
- Keep: calls and messages from people, calendar reminders, and security codes from your bank.
When an app pulls you in without a notification
Silencing an app removes the prompt, not the habit. If you still open it every few minutes, the next steps are a less tempting screen and a schedule that closes the app at the hours it costs you most. In Warden, those rules can run in Lockdown so they hold until they end, with emergency access still available.
How to make your iPhone boring

Example: an afternoon of 60 buzzes
Screen Time's Notifications report shows a phone receiving around 60 notifications between lunch and 6 PM, mostly from a shopping app, two games and Instagram likes. Turn off notifications for the shopping app and both games, move Instagram to Scheduled Summary at 1 PM and 7 PM, and leave messages untouched.
A week later, check the same report. If the count has fallen and the afternoons feel less broken up, keep going with the next noisiest app.
